A DAG works differently. This data structure resembles a flow chart where all points are headed in one direction. You can compare a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) to a file directory structure where folders have subfolders that branch into other subfolders and so on; they are tree-like. As a blockchain grows over time, nodes will need more and more storage capacity and a higher bandwidth (volume increases) to keep up-to-date with the transactions added to the ledger. This has the potential to become very costly, keeping in mind that internet speed will increase and storage cost will decrease over time. Other elements include: no data privacy as many blockchains are public and unwanted centralization because of the miners. Concepts in the DAGA DAG works in depth. This means that every node consists of multiple layers of transactions. When a transaction is registered in a node, it first has to verify two other transactions before his transaction will be verified. Those two transactions are chosen according to an algorithm. The node has to check if the two transactions are not conflicting. For a node to issue a valid transaction, it must solve a cryptographic puzzle similar to those in the Bitcoin network (Proof of Work). Just two verifications are needed to verify a transaction. This gives the benefit of a drastic decrease in unnecessary verification. One of the most promising companies working on DAG at the moment is CyberVein. The way BANANO and Nano reach consensus is through a process known as Open Representative Voting. This is different than the Proof of Work and Proof of Stake methods of most blockchains and cryptocurrencies. This is what allows BANANO/Nano to be instant and feeless, and is also why there is no mining or staking required. Instead, people run nodes for the network, and others delegate their voting weight to those node runners (also known as representatives, short rep). Basically summarized, everyone picks someone running a node (a rep) to speak to the blockchain on their behalf. You can select/change that representative at any time for free. When you create a wallet you are assigned a default rep associated with that wallet. If you have not changed it yourself, you will still be on that default rep.

More Nodes/Reps with more diversified voting weight equals more decentralization (which is what we all want after all right? that’s the goal). The BANANO team runs a Nano node and back in April of 2019 there was an airdrop to Nano holders as both an educational tool, and to encourage people to branch out from the default wallet reps to the BANANO one, further helping decentralize the network. It turns out there was still a considerable amount of people to this day faithfully delegating to the BANANO Rep for their Nano Wallets (over a year and a half) so the BANANO team wanted to reward their support. There is a list of Nodes and their stats on Nanocrawler.cc under the network tab. The Natrium “Pick From a List” option is also a good method to choose a rep with the voting weight requirements for the airdrop bonus.

Jeffrey Gundlach, the CEO of DoubleLine Capital and so-called “Bond King,” warned that the primary cryptocurrency could be in a massive bubble. He based his view on BTC’s recent performance that included a parabolic increase and a large crash just yesterday.

It’s safe to say that bitcoin initiated a significant bull run in early October when it dabbled with the $10,000 price tag. In the following months, BTC more than quadrupled its value to an all-time high of $42,000 marked last week. However, the asset was not exempt from adverse developments either and yesterday crashed by nearly $12,000 in less than 24 hours.

Such a parabolic price increase followed by a massive correction has raised concerns among some traditional investors, including DoubleLine Capital’s CEO Jeffrey Gundlach.

He warned that similar developments could indicate that the asset has become a bubble, and people need to be wary before allocating any funds to it.

“I don’t like bitcoin here. I don’t like things that are up on a stilt like that. Bitcoin, to me, is now sort of in bubble territory in terms of the way it’s been acting.”

The Bond King is not the only one who recently asserted that BTC is in a bubble. CryptoPotato reported a similar narrative breached by a former Merrill Lynch economist – David Rosenberg. He compared the 2020/2021 run with the developments during the 2017/2018 rally and warned that bitcoin could enter a bear market as it happened three years ago.

On the contrary, the US fund manager and philanthropist Bill Miller, who predicted the mentioned above bull run as early as October, said that the cryptocurrency gets less risky the higher its price goes.

“Bitcoin is a supply-demand story. There are 900 new bitcoins created every day. Bitcoin’s total supply is growing less than 2% a year, and it’s obvious by the price that the demand is growing much, much faster than that.”

Consequently, he concluded that as long as this narrative persists, BTC is “likely to go higher, perhaps considerably higher.”

Just recently, Miller also predicted that corporate funds could start a “torrent” towards the cryptocurrency and said that BTC is a “rat poison for cash.”

Israeli entrepreneur Uri Levine who co-founded Waze, a traffic and navigation app, acquired by Google is bearish on cryptocurrencies claiming that Bitcoin is only useful for criminals. The Israeli start-up king said that the cryptocurrency space does not necessarily solve any problems that we don’t already have the answers to.

In an interview with CNBC Middle East, Levine explained that in his opinion Bitcoin, was primarily used for trading illegal goods. He believed that cryptocurrencies even facilitate human trafficking and is being used by the “dark economy:”

Osprey Bitcoin Trust (OBTC), a challenger to behemoth Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), has begun trading on the over-the-counter (OTC) market.

OBTC boasts a lower 0.49% management fee compared to GBTC's 2% annual fee, but the product levies additional charges, including custody and legal fees, as The Block reported last month.

Detailing those charges on Tuesday, Osprey Funds CEO Greg King told The Block that the firm expects those charges to be "0.30% or less for 2021."

Going forward, King expects those costs to "go down as a percentage of the fund as the fund grows in size, benefiting investors rather than the fund sponsor."

While OBTC's charges are low, market insiders told The Block recently that they don't believe it will challenge GBTC's market dominance. This is because GBTC boasts significant liquidity and often trades at a premium, they said at the time.

Given GBTC's success, several crypto firms have moved to launch similar products in recent weeks. Bitwise, for instance, began the regulatory process to list its bitcoin fund on OTC markets. BlockFi launched its bitcoin trust that charges a management fee of 1.75%.

It’s been just reported that Mike Novogratz, CEO of crypto management firm Galaxy Digital, is revealing when he thinks Bitcoin will hit his target of $500,000.

According to the latest reports, in a discussion with Michael Saylor on the WORLD.NOW event hosted by MicroStrategy, Novogratz proposed that Bitcoin will continue to perform well, more so as a store-of-value asset rather than as a currency.

“I think we’ve hit a tipping point in this network effect I talked about, and my base case is: if I look at Bitcoin as a percentage of gold, I think Bitcoin is going to be digital gold. I know a lot of people disagree with me. They’ll think, ‘No, it going to be money. It’s going to be the blockchains of all blockchains,’ I just don’t think so. I think it’s got a beautiful lane as a store of value. It was perfectly designed as a store of value,” he said.

Novogratz sees Bitcoin as a store of value asset, and he said that he believes the king coin will continue to catch up to gold’s $10 trillion market capitalization as it prints gains of over 10x in as little as three years.

“I think of it as, ‘What percentage of market cap is gold?’ We’re about 6% of the gold market cap. My sense is by the end of the year we are easily 10%. So that gets you to Bitcoin $55,000-$60,000. I know as soon as we get to 10%, we’re going to say, ‘Well why 10? Why not 20?’ And when we get to 20%, we’re going to be 50%, and then we’re going to be 100%” he explained as quoted by the online publication the Daily Hodl.

At the moment of writing this article, BTC is trading in the green, and the king coin is priced at $48,486.12.

Ever since the IOTA project launched, a lot of people have been paying attention to its Tangle infrastructure. There is still a lot of confusion as to whether or not this technology is similar to a blockchain or is something else entirely. The Directed Acyclic Graph – or DAG – is a very unique creature that isn’t like any other blockchain in existence. However, that doesn’t have to be a bad thing, depending on how much trust you want to put in other people. For those readers who are not versed in coding or cryptography, the concept of a Direct Acyclic Graph will not make any more sense than a blockchain makes. That’s because it’s still a way to successfully record and broadcast transactions to the rest of the network. On that front, there is very little difference between the two concepts. However, in the case of IOTA, there are no miners who process, broadcast, and confirm transactions. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing, though, as the mining process is often considered a waste of electricity first and foremost. Whether that makes the DAG implementation superior or inferior is hard to determine at this point in time. There is no perfect way to achieve distributed and decentralized consensus in the world of cryptocurrency right now. Any new way of achieving this goal will have its advantages and drawbacks. IOTA’s implementation of the Directed Acyclic Graph will not be to everyone’s liking either. More specifically, this consensus mechanism involves the use of transaction issuers and transaction validators. This is very different from the concept of mining, where the issuers and approvers are one and the same, for the most part. Some people see this as an advantage, as miners often collude to harm the network whenever things aren’t going to their liking. Moreover, miner fees also impact those networks relying on mining consensus, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. IOTA’s team feels their DAG implementation will address all of these issues, although it remains to be seen if that will be the case. Removing any consensus-related vulnerabilities from the IOTA ecosystem has always been a top priority. Whether it be miners, oracles, witnesses, delegates, or stakers, they all have their own flaws and drawbacks. When an issuer also becomes a transaction validator under the Directed Acyclic Graph rules, an interesting paradigm is created. Whether or not this system will still be seen as foolproof once issues affecting IOTA users and supporters arise remains to be seen. There are additional advantages to using IOTA’s DAG. First of all, it seems to solve scalability, although there is still a lot of work to be done in this regard. Secondly, it solves most of the issues associated with transaction fees found in Bitcoin and Ethereum. Transactions broadcast to the network require two previous transactions to be approved. This must be handled by the network nodes, which requires that the approved network nodes don’t conflict with one another. It is an interesting take on double-spends, although it still has to be put through its paces properly. In a perfect world, IOTA’s DAG implementation would enable micropayments for the Internet of Things. This will mainly depend on whether or not the community is interested in spinning up additional full nodes. Late last week, the network ground to a halt as the public nodes were overwhelmed by a rather simple spam attack. That certainly puts the viability of this DAG into question, but these are still the early days of development. The DAG model eliminates the blocks, and transactions are added directly to the blockchain.No blocks means no mining, which means less power is required to support the network.The DAG model is more efficient at storing data, similar to a tree structure, where more transactions can be validated at the same time. In this model, nodes are connected like the branches of a tree. A node can have more than one parent root, which means that users dont need to wait for a transaction to be completed to start processing a new one.According to some developers, the DAG model can improve the usability of a network by making it more scalable. Thats because with more nodes developed at the same time, transactions are processed faster than on blockchains using the PoW or PoS consensus.With a different method of validating nodes, the consensus algorithms also change. Miners dont have to compete to add the next block in the chain. This means that the DAG model could solve the decentralisation issue. However, the cryptocurrency ecosystem has seen several projects using the framework successfully. The technology is called block-lattice and is a mix of the DAG-based framework and the traditional blockchain.In Nano, every user with an individual wallet gets a blockchain and is the only one who can operate changes on it. For a transaction to be completed, both the sender and the receiver must perform an operation on the blockchain.As Nano highlights, users particularly like the high transaction speed and zero transaction fees.ObyteObyte (ByteBall) is another cryptocurrency that doesnt use the blockchain. Despite having implemented the DAG model, Byteball doesnt provide zero-fee transactions. Thats because the network uses a validator system to double-check transactions on the blockchain.This consensus algorithm relies on witnesses recognised reputable users who have the role of validators. The platform also supports unreachable contracts and untraceable transactions.The takeawayThe DAG model has the potential to become Blockchain 3.0 after the Bitcoin and Ethereum revolutions. However, the new framework is in its infancy, and theres still a lot to discover in terms of the potential of this new technology.The DAG system enables scalability, but it has its downsides for small networks, which are more vulnerable to attacks. Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and the world’s richest man, has recently joined the list of top individuals with positive views of Bitcoin and the entire cryptocurrency space.

Elon Musk, during a recent ClubHouse livestream, pointed out that he should have invested in Bitcoin a long time ago. In his own words, he said, “I do at this point think Bitcoin is a good thing. I am a supporter.”

Dan Held further confirmed Elon Musk’s interest in BTC via a tweet.

One could also say that Musk is putting his money where his mouth is. Tesla recently bought a staggering $1.5 billion in Bitcoin, which helped propel Bitcoin price to a new ATH.

According to Musk, Bitcoin is at the precipice of achieving global adoption. He, however, disclosed that he couldn’t say the same about other cryptocurrencies. Interestingly, many top individuals are also of this same opinion. Mark Cuban, a well-known cryptocurrency critic, is of the opinion that certain cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum are here to stay.

Popular Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams also joined the Bitcoin train last year. This was after she carried out a poll asking fans if she should invest in Bitcoin or not. The increase in institutional investors is also a pointer to Bitcoin’s growing acceptance and adoption. Companies like MicroStrategy, Guggenheim Foundation, Square, etc. have all purchased the “King Crypto” in recent times.

Elon Miusk seems to be having a huge hold on the crypto space. In late January, he was a major player in the unprecedented price rally of Dogecoin. The billionaire tweeted about DOGE being on the cover of a magazine. His tweet, alongside the Reddit and WallStreetBets saga, drove the coin overboard. Subsequently, resulting in an amazing 800% price increase.

His Twitter bio famously just read “Bitcoin” for a time. This singular update reportedly resulted in a 15% price increase.

At the time of publication, BTC was up 2.4%. The “King Crypto” was trading at $48,803.44, with a market cap of $909,158,649,315 and a 24-hour trading volume of $57,077,835,233.

Is It the End of Blockchain? Since a Bitcoin block is created roughly every 10 minutes, the maximum number of possible transactions is very limited. The transactions are prioritized according to the amount of transaction fee paid but if the block is full, you have to wait for the next block. Depending on the amount of fee paid and the transaction volume, you may have to wait several blocks until your own transaction is included. This problem has now reached such proportions that many Bitcoin users have been demanding faster transaction processing for some time but there is no solution yet. Bitcoin Mempool woes worsen as over 200,000 unconfirmed transactions remain queued. Transaction problems in the Bitcoin world are nothing new. Despite the vast net worth of this network, its scaling problems become more problematic every day. Bitcoin transactions have become very expensive with fees rising to $17 as demand has increased considerably. That makes bitcoin unusable for ordinary commerce, but while ordinary people are complaining, others (miners) can be satisfied with their profit. Charges can continue to grow, up to inconceivable value. This has already happened before, several years ago there was an extreme increase where the value of the fees was comparable to the bitcoin value. Today, yield aggregator Harvest Finance and multi-service platform Value DeFi — two Ethereum-native decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols accounting for nearly a billion dollars in total value locked between them — announced planned expansions to Binance Smart Chain, the smart contract platform built by crypto exchange giant Binance.

Not everyone in the Ethereum community is ready to take BSC seriously, however.

Harvest, which is among the largest yield aggregators and currently boasts over 830 million in total value locked, said in a statement to Cointelegraph that the protocol is looking to hire two developers to bring Harvest to BSC.

“At Harvest Finance we think this is an opportunity to show that "cross chain" yield farming is not only possible, it will be one of the next major milestones for the yield farming ecosystem,” said Harvest community moderator Red.

Likewise, Value DeFi and its $40 million in TVL said in a Tweet that they were planning to port their yield-bearing governance vault to BSC, confirming earlier team statements on Discord:

The announcements come during a period of explosive growth for BSC. Projects on Binance Smart Chain such as PancakeSwap have been on a tear as of late, and even before the announced moves the recent run of success has led some members of the Ethereum developer community to ask which is more valuable: a platform scalable enough that all players can feasibly participate, or a credible degree of decentralization? 

BSC, whose architecture is supported by 21 validator nodes all run by Binance or its affiliates, has been characterized by some developers as an elaborate Ethereum testnet, given its cheap transactions and centralization:

According to Scoopy, the semi-anon co-founder of the forthcoming AlchemixFi project, the centralization means that BSC is destined to remain populated with copycat projects originally born on Ethereum.

Other traders and developers are less concerned with originality and thorough decentralization, however. In an interview with Cointelegraph, Red said that even though Ethereum is “the king of kings,” profit maximalism is what motivates Harvest. 

“Harvest sees a growing number of projects that are attempting to alleviate the pain associated with high gas costs on Ethereum,” said Red. “[...] Harvest is focused on providing the best sources of yield for farmers. If that yield exists on another chain, and can be safely utilized, we will turn on the tractors.”

Aside from developmental and ideological scruples, BSC’s transaction costs are increasingly difficult to ignore for projects looking to provide value for their users. The recent spike is gas costs is a genuine barrier for retail investors, especially when it comes to more complex contract interactions. Value DeFi specifically mentioned these gas costs as a pain point in their BSC announcement. 

Members of the Premia Republic, an all-anon team building the Premia options protocol, said that unless a project is building with explicit decentralization in mind, BSC is simply a path to a larger pool of users capable of using a smart contract product.

“[We] don't think building on bsc is a bad thing at all. Whether everyone agrees or not, retail and a large portion of the participating market are being priced out of some of the services offered in defi due to gas fees,” they said.

We look at CoinShares and see that investors poured 195 million dollars into the cryptocurrency.  In total, the cryptocurrency market was replenished with an additional 2.6 billion, which is a third of last year's investment of 6.67 billion!!! If investors continue to follow this plan, 2021 will be the most promising year in the history of cryptocurrencies.

Of course, so far it is Grayscale Investment. In the first week of February, the company's record was one-five percent of $1 billion. This is 4/5 of the total inflow of funds to the crypto market. Carry on!

But Bitcoins were bought for only $42 million, but we know that it was successfully corrected by Tesla, which contributed as much as $1.5 billion to BTC. Interestingly, after such a pump Bitcoin surpassed by capitalisation the brainchild of Elon Musk — the very company-buyer BTC (Tesla).

In third place is Polkadot with $4.4 million, due to the growing popularity of the platform. As for the king of February — Ethereum, its rapid growth is directly related to the popularity of decentralised finances.

But when analyzing the market, we also noticed an interesting aspect. Investors are actively holding, and are not inclined to trade cryptocurrency.

We think that in 2021 DeFi will pour even more money than in 2020 and in the Ethereum blockchain a huge amount of money will be frozen!
